cmux is a terminal for people who run several coding agents at once. Vertical tabs show each workspace's git branch, folder and ports, panes light up when an agent needs you, and a browser can sit next to the terminal. When Claude Code spawns teammates or subagents, they become visible splits. A CLI and socket API make it scriptable.
It is a native Swift and AppKit app that uses libghostty for rendering and reads your Ghostty config. It is Mac-only and works with any terminal agent: Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Gemini CLI, Amp, Pi and others.
The terminal is free under GPL-3.0-or-later and everything runs on your Mac. The paid Pro plan ($50 a month) adds agents on cmux's cloud VMs and the iOS app.
brew install --cask cmuxOfficial downloads only. MLX never re-hosts an app, and never runs a command for you.
