Codex CLI is a coding agent that runs on your computer. You sign in with ChatGPT, open a project folder and describe the change; it edits files and runs commands. The desktop experience now lives inside the ChatGPT desktop app, where you choose Codex next to ChatGPT.
Install it with OpenAI's script, npm or Homebrew. The code is open source under Apache 2.0.
Codex is included with ChatGPT Plus ($20 a month) and higher plans, or you can pay per use with an API key. The models run on OpenAI's servers.
How to Get It
