ArcBox runs four kinds of workload on one runtime: a drop-in Docker engine, disposable microVM sandboxes for agents and untrusted code, full Linux VMs and throwaway macOS VMs. `abctl claude` builds a sandbox and attaches your terminal to Claude Code inside it with permission prompts off, because the microVM is the isolation boundary; nothing from your Mac is mounted in.
It's written from scratch in Rust and is in public beta. The Homebrew cask is for Apple silicon and macOS 15 or later, and sandboxes need macOS 15 or later. SDKs talk to the local daemon over gRPC.
ArcBox is open source under MIT or Apache-2.0 and runs locally with no account or cloud control plane. A separate hosted ArcBox platform is waitlist-only.
Official downloads only. MLX never re-hosts an app, and never runs a command for you.
