Hermes Agent is a self-improving assistant. It creates skills after complex tasks and improves them as it uses them, keeps a memory of you and your projects, searches its past conversations and runs scheduled jobs such as daily reports. You talk to it from the terminal, the desktop app, or Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal or email through one gateway, and it can spawn subagents for parallel work.
Hermes Desktop needs macOS 12 or later; the terminal version installs with one command or Homebrew. Commands can run locally, in Docker, over SSH or in cloud sandboxes such as Modal and Daytona.
It's free and MIT-licensed. You choose the model provider (OpenRouter, OpenAI, your own endpoint and others) or Nous Portal, whose paid tiers bundle models and tools. Conversations, memories and skills are stored in your Hermes data directory.
brew install --cask hermes-desktopcurl -fsSL https://hermes-agent.nousresearch.com/install.sh | bashbrew install hermes-agentOfficial downloads only. MLX never re-hosts an app, and never runs a command for you.
