MLX is an array framework for machine learning on Apple silicon, from Apple machine learning research. It has a NumPy-like Python API plus C++, C and Swift APIs, and its arrays live in shared (unified) memory, so work moves between CPU and GPU without copying. Tools such as mlx-lm, mlx-vlm and mlx-audio are built on it.
On a Mac it needs Apple silicon, macOS 14.0 or later and a native Python 3.10 or newer. It's also published for Linux with CUDA or CPU only.
MLX is free and open source (MIT) and runs on your machine.
Official downloads only. MLX never re-hosts an app, and never runs a command for you.
