The Git server gives an AI app tools such as git status, diff, add, commit, reset, log and branch on a repository path you pass in. Its maintainers call it early development, so tools may change.
It's one of the reference servers kept by the MCP steering group to show how MCP works; the maintainers say to review its security for your own use. Run it with uvx or install it with pip (Python 3.10 or later).
It's free and runs on your Mac against your local repositories.
