Handy turns speech into text in whatever text field you are using. Hold or tap a keyboard shortcut, speak, and it pastes the transcript. Silence is filtered with Silero VAD, and you choose the model: Whisper (Small to Large, GPU-accelerated where available) or Parakeet V3, which runs well on the CPU and detects the language.
It runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. There is a download for Apple silicon on the site; the Homebrew cask exists but is not maintained by the Handy developers.
Handy is free and open source (MIT). Transcription happens on your computer and audio is not sent to the cloud.
How to Get It
brew install --cask handyOfficial downloads only. MLX never re-hosts an app, and never runs a command for you.
