MacWhisper turns lectures, videos, podcasts and private files into text, records online meetings without a bot joining, and does dictation. It can tell speakers apart, remove filler words and export subtitles and documents.
The Mac app needs macOS 15 or later. The App Store version, called Whisper Transcription, also runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later.
There is a free version and a paid Pro version. Transcription uses local models, so files stay on your Mac; you can also connect cloud services such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Deepgram with your own account.
